AFTER THE 2011 NSW STATE ELECTIONUncertainty about the O'Farrell Government's policy on climate changeThe O'Farrell Government (a coalition of Liberal and Nationals) won government after very little policy discussion on a number of matters, including climate change and energy efficiency. In fact, in their 60 page policy document, the only mention of climate change was in a footnote.The Clarence Branch wrote to the Premier shortly after the election seeking some clarification.
Here is the response. It isn't from the Premier. It isn't even from one of the ministers. We now have public servants interpreting the policy void and still an absence of detail.
Opposition to changes in the Solar Bonus SchemeControversially, on Black Friday 13 May, the O'Farrell Government announced it planned to cut the contract price of the gross feed-in tariff under the Solar Bonus Scheme from 60 cents per kWh to 40 cents. This would require legislation to retrospectively change the terms of signed contracts. Read our media release here .Due to the concerted campaign, the Government backed down on this proposal.
